ACTION NEEDED NOW!
In the past year, the federal government has changed laws, modified regulations and cut funds to erode and erase gains in coverage and care made by the Affordable Care Act.
On April 9, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services finalized a rule which opens the door for states to allow health plans to include fewer guaranteed benefits.
We don’t want that to happen here in our state.
That’s why Connecticut health care advocates and activists are calling on our legislators to pass a law that codifies vital Affordable Care Act protections in state law.
House Bill 5210 An Act Mandating Insurance Coverage of Essential Health Benefits and Expanding Mandated Health Benefits for Women, Children and Adolescents would make sure that we don’t slip backwards. For more on this bill, click here for a Fact Sheet from Planned Parenthood.
The 2018 legislative session ends on May 9. We can’t afford to have our legislators go home and let these protections slip away.
Contact your state senator RIGHT NOW.
Ask them if they would want a health care plan that excludes emergency care, hospitalization or prescription drug coverage.
Ask them if women in their district would like a plan that doesn’t cover maternity and newborn care, contraception without cost sharing, or comprehensive pediatric care.
Ask them if they think a health plan should exclude mental health services – or decline coverage of chronic disease management.
Let them know that you want quality care that you can count on.
Pass House Bill 5210 now!
