Thank you!

A message from Frances G. Padilla

President, Universal Health Care Foundation of Connecticut

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for joining us in the fight for better health care for everyone in our community.

In the face of political challenges, we are proud of what we accomplished in 2017. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Creation of Protect Our Care Connecticut campaign
    • In response to attacks on the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Foundation established the Protect Our Care CT (POCCT) campaign. In partnership with 30 organizations, POCCT seeks to preserve and strengthen the gains made by the ACA and defend Medicaid, Medicare, and women’s health programs for all Connecticut residents. Learn about what POCCT is doing here.
  • Fight against state cuts to Medicaid (HUSKY)
    • To amplify the voices of people affected by the proposed cuts, the Foundation worked with allies to shine a light on the value of HUSKY. At events this summer, real people had the opportunity to speak about the impact of the cuts in their lives and providers shared stories of people they would no longer be able to serve because of the cuts. See their stories here.
  • Passage of new law tackling high prescription drug costs
    • This bi-partisan bill aims to lower prescription drug costs for consumers:
      • Enables patients to pay a lower price at the pharmacy if the actual retail cost of the drug is lower than the co-pay
      • Bans “gag clauses” so that pharmacists are free to share prescription drug price information with patients and let them know if a lower cost equivalent alternative is available.

Thank you for your continued partnership in this valuable work.
