Which Health Services are Free for You?

By Rosana Garcia

Are you getting the most out of your private insurance plan?

You may have heard that some preventive health services are required to be “free” under the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”).  But what are those preventive services?  How does it work?

The Kaiser Family Foundation has put together a Preventive Services Tracker that goes into detail about which services need to be covered by private insurance with no out-of-pocket costs to consumers.  This includes consumers with coverage through Access Health CT.

The bottom line is this means that consumers do not have to pay a co-pay or other charges for these services.

Check it out and make sure you’re getting the most out of your coverage.

Note: If you have an older health insurance plan (one that is “grandfathered”) these guidelines don’t apply to you.  Find out more about that here.
