Gallup starts providing answers on initial impact of open enrollment in the marketplaces

A newly released Gallup Poll gives some insight to one of the big questions surrounding the open enrollment on the state and national marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act – how many of those who enrolled were previously uninsured?

Nationally, the poll results show that the uninsured rate has dropped from 16.2 percent in January to 14.7 percent by March 31 – approximately 3.5 million adults have changed status from uninsured to insured.

According to Kevin Counihan, CEO of Access Health CT, Connecticut’s most recent uninsured numbers is around 8 percent.
