Highlights from 2014 Reform to Transform Forum

As the Foundation looks ahead to 2014, we definitely see more forums in our Reform to Transform series in the future.  Judging from the response to the inaugural  forum this year, the people of Connecticut want more substantive discussions about the health care challenges, and potential solutions, facing the state.

Topics we plan to explore next year include over-treatment and under-treatment and the impact they have on peoples’ health and health care, and what can be done about it.

The forum this fall was attended by over 300 people. Held at Quinnipiac University’s Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, the program featured Steven Brill, author of the provocative Time Magazine article, “The Bitter Pill: Why Medical Bills are Killing Us.” Joining Mr. Brill on the panel were Patrick Charmel, CEO of Griffin Hospital and Kevin Lembo, State Comptroller. Journalist Susan Campbell moderated.

It was an informative and thought-provoking discussion. Here’s a video with highlights from the forum.

(Stay tuned for information about upcoming forums in 2014!
